Micro Needling Therapy
What is Microneedling?
◦ Microneedling uses a device with tiny, electronically controlled, vibrating micro-needles in its tip
◦ A light serum is placed on the face and the micro needling device glides over it in a smooth, comfortable manner
◦ Treatments are precisely controlled to move to a set depth and at a set speed
◦ The skin heals quickly with a minimum of side effects
◦ Treatments will stimulate collagen, smooth acne scars, wrinkles and other skin texture problems
◦ Can be used in all skin types and colors
Microneedling is a highly effective skin therapy procedure that involves a multitude of micro needles that vertically pierce the skin to reduce fine lines, wrinkles, stretch marks, acne scars and wound scars. Microneedling induces natural collagen production and is similar to fractional laser treatments, laser resurfacing, and chemical peels, but without the side effects and downtime.
It has gained tremendous popularity due to its small size and ability to treat hard to reach places around the eyes, nose, and lips. It is also much safer and more precise than any other micro needling devices as the speed and needle depth can be easily adjusted during the treatment for different areas. Additionally, as it is not a laser, there are no issues with skin type and color and can be used safely in darker skinned patients.
The procedure is quick, effortless, and due to an automatic vibrating feature—comfortable.
Frequently Asked Questions
How many treatments are necessary to achieve a good response?
Improvement is seen with each treatment but a series of 3-5 treatments is best to achieve optimal results.
How far apart are treatments done?
Microneedling treatments can be repeated every 4-6 weeks.
Is micro needling safe for darker skin types?
Since no melanin-absorbing laser and no heat are involved, micro needling is relatively safer than lasers, such as IPL, for darker skin types.
Who performs the treatments?
One of our highly-trained medical estheticians will perform your treatment.
Is micro needling painful?
Microneedling involves the use of very fine needles and is relatively comfortable. A topical numbing cream is all that is needed.
How long is each treatment?
For a face, each treatment is 30 to 60 minutes.
How is micro needling different than a needle roller?
Needle rollers also use needles for skin resurfacing but are often too large and unwieldy for tight areas. They are also dependent on hand pressure, so the depth of penetration varies depending on the amount of pressure exerted and the softness of the skin, while the depth of our micro needling is very precise, as it is manually controlled with an electronic dial. There is also lateral trauma to the skin when the needles on a roller pull out of the skin as the wheel turns. This does not happen with our micro needling treatment, which relies only on vertical needle action.
What are the immediate after-effects?
There are redness and very minimal bleeding.
